This collection consists of scattered records of John W. Corwin who served one term in the Montana State Legislature as a Senator from Billings. Records include correspondence (1948); legislative bill (1915) introduced by Corwin and relating to pharmacies; an abstract of land held in Columbus, MT.; a liabiblity ledger for insurance accounts (1919, 1924); and clipings 1930s-1940s). Collection also consists of items from extended family (Bertram Sullivan and Genevieve Corwin Albrecht) scattered financial records from work as a electrical contractor (1935-1953), and school records (1919, n.d.); and wartime ration books (1940s) respectively. (SC 2278) Records consists primarily of papers for John W. Corwin. They include general correspondence (1948) regarding his work for the Liquor Control Board; a legislative bill (1915) introduced by Corwin relating to pharmacies; an abstract (1918) of land held in Columbus; a liabiblity ledger for insurance accounts (1919, 1924); and clippings (1930s-1940s).This collection also contains items from Genevieve Corwin Albrecht (his daughter) and Bertram Sullivan (relationship unknown). These records include World War II ration books (1940s); and financial records from electrical contracting business (1935-1953), and grade school records (1919, n.d.).

John W. Corwin was born in Cantril, Iowa, August 20, 1875. He was one of five children born to B.W. Corwin and Mary Tufts Corwin. He completed grade school and high school in Cantril, and graduated from Highland Park School of Pharmacy, in Des Moines. Corwin came to Montana in the fall of 1899. He took up residence in Park City, and by 1890 had established Corwin Mercantile. The Mercantile remained in business until 1923. Corwin served as President of the Farmers' State Bank at Whea...
